As a Housing Specialist on the Immediate Housing Response Team at YFS Ltd, you will play a crucial role in providing rapid, person-centred housing solutions for individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. This full-time position is based in Slacks Creek, Queensland, and involves working collaboratively with the broader YFS team to support clients in accessing safe and affordable accommodation.

What you'll be doing

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand each client's unique housing and support needs
• Proactively source and secure appropriate long-term or transitional housing options
• Liaise with real estate agents, landlords and other housing providers to facilitate access to accommodation
• Provide intensive, tailored support to assist clients in sustaining their tenancies
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate wraparound services and support
• Maintain detailed case notes and contribute to the ongoing development of the Immediate Housing Response program

What we're looking for

• Demonstrated experience in the community services or housing sector, with a strong understanding of homelessness and the barriers to housing access
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and work effectively with a diverse range of clients
• Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to think creatively to overcome housing challenges
• Familiarity with the local housing market and established relationships with real estate agents and landlords
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team while also exercising independent decision-making
• Relevant tertiary qualification in social work, community development or a related field
