About the opportunity…

This position works within the Leadership Team to advance the organisation's strategic objectives and vision, ensuring the achievement of service excellence. This role helps communicate a unified message to staff and stakeholders, fostering seamless operations and a positive workplace culture.

This position provides day-to-day oversight and management of key WASH House service operations including intake and case support, education and capacity building programs, social inclusion activities and community events. The role works closely with internal teams and external stakeholders and community partners to ensure successful collaboration and strong community connections. The role requires a deep understanding of community development approaches, strong project management skills, contract management and the ability to build and maintain relationships with key partners.

This community-based organisation stands as a cornerstone resource centre for women within the Blacktown LGA, proudly serving the community for over 40 years. The organisation has an unwavering commitment to its mission to diminish the effects of poverty, social inequality, and violence, empowering the lives of women.

Services provided include information and referral, case support and case management, skill building and therapeutic groups, advocacy and various community development activities.

The organisation is dedicated to strengthening its community development approaches by fostering greater collaboration, inclusivity, and empowerment within local community. Through targeted programs that focus on education, social inclusion, and safety, WASH House works to build sustainable, resilient communities.

The organisation’s outreach efforts, community partnerships, and grassroots initiatives aim to ensure that resources are accessible to women and their families, while also encouraging active participation and leadership from within the community.

This position provides day to day oversight of key programs and teams working to strengthen collaborations and community connections.

What you will need to succeed…

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (e.g. social work, community development, public policy, management) or significant relevant experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in management and leadership roles in a relevant field
  • Solid background and strong understanding of community development approaches and community engagement with accountabilities of child protection
  • Strong alignment with the WASH House vision and values and commitment to feminist framework
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop and nurture partnerships with a range of stakeholders, including community groups, service provider organisations, business and the private sector, and government departments
  • Demonstrated experience in contract management and ensuring meeting contractual obligations
  • Experience in use of evaluation strategies, tools and evidence-based practice
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills including ability to identify issues, risks and opportunities
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to advocating for systemic change and improvements to service options, by championing initiatives, influencing policy, and actively engaging with key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated management skills and sound experience including the areas of:
    • Leading and motivating teams and driving high performance and continuous improvement
    • Financial management
    • Work, Health & Safety
    • Project Management
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a key member of the leadership team for the organisation
  • Superior time management and workload organisation skills
  • Confidence and experience in information management systems, including managing people’s personal information
  • Superior time management and workload organisation skills
  • Outstanding Communication skills, demonstrating high level written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer and Internet skills
  • Current driver’s licence and willingness to use own vehicle
  • Knowledge and understanding of social policy and issues that face women in Western Sydney (desirable)
  • Understanding and experience working with Domestic and Family Violence (desirable)
