As our Technology Director, you’ll be a strategic leader across Today’s digital and technology work. You’ll work with a multidisciplinary team of designers, developers, strategists and researchers to deliver digital experiences that are inclusive, accessible, and designed for impact.

Your role is to guide clients through uncertainty—bringing clarity, technical vision, and delivery excellence to complex programs. You’ll help organisations use technology thoughtfully and ethically, particularly as they navigate new capabilities like AI, data and automation.

You’ll lead and grow our internal technology capability, champion delivery quality, and help set our offer apart in the social impact space.

You’ll be ambitious and creative, want to make a sizeable dent, and be energised and excited by the impact technology can have. We want someone who will think big, stretch us and deliver world-class work.

Your focus

• Advising client teams on digital and technology strategy
• Leading a growing team of engineers, architects and developers
• Lifting technical delivery quality and consistency across projects through processes and tools.
• Contributing to commercial performance and developing our offer
• Staying across trends and helping clients experiment with emerging tech, including AI
• Working closely with peers across design, strategy and delivery

You will demonstrate

• Senior leadership experience in digital or technology teams
• Deep knowledge of modern web and application development
• Experience in building and architecting large-scale, complex applications so you can directly mentor our team.
• Experience across the SDLC (requirements gathering, definition, estimation, agile delivery management, quality assurance, ongoing support).
• Experience shaping digital services and product strategy
• Confidence in communicating complex technical ideas in accessible, human language
• A track record of delivering quality, scalable and inclusive technology solutions

We use a variety of frameworks and platforms but mainly use open source, our solutions typically involve:

• Infrastructure as code
• Cloud architectures on AWS/Azure
• Frontend applications (Typescript, React, NextJS, Vercel)
• CMS (CraftCMS, Drupal)
• Integrations with CRMs and other systems through middleware

The details

• Full-time role.
• Our preference is you’re based in Sydney/Gadigal Lands.
• Hybrid, but the expectation is the majority of your week is in-studio.
• Some travel interstate to visit studios/clients is required (e.g. a few days per month)
• Be legally able to work in Australia without restriction
