Sussex Street Community Law Centre (SSCLS) seeks dedicated and compassionate peer and community volunteers to join our Disability Justice Advocacy Project!

About Us:

Sussex Street Community Law Centre is a community-based legal service committed to providing free, accessible, and inclusive legal support to vulnerable and marginalised communities. Our Disability Justice Advocacy Project focuses on empowering people with disability by giving legal advice, advocacy, and support to address issues such as discrimination, access to services, and navigating complex systems.

The Role:

As a volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting our team to deliver high-quality legal services to people with disability. Your responsibilities may include:

• Assisting with client intake and case management.
• Researching disability law, policy, and systemic issues.
• Supporting community outreach and education initiatives.
• Helping to develop resources and materials for clients and the community.
• Provide peer support and share lived experience (if applicable) to empower clients.
• ·Work on our disability advocacy telephone advice line supporting the community

This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in disability law, develop your advocacy skills, and contribute to meaningful change in the community.

We’re Looking For:

• Individuals intensely interested in disability rights, social justice, and community advocacy.
• People with lived experience of disability (valued but not essential).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently.
• A commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of people with disability.
