Your Role

This role is part of the Community Development Team working out of the Ozanam Learning Centre and is focused on expanding our activities into target inner-city communities.

The Outreach Coordinator will work alongside other members of the Community Development Team to engage with communities, understand what their priorities and agenda are, and to harness the resources of the Society to help realise those community visions. The Outreach Coordinator Role will work alongside target communities to create opportunities for individuals and groups of people to learn more, gain confidence, and become more engaged in their communities.

Your Responsibility

  • Coordinating and developing internal and external relationships that enable the outreach of activities, workshops or programs focused on opportunities for social engagement and capacity building to enable stronger community participation.
  • Consulting with communities and developing pilot initiatives alongside them that create benefits for communities
  • Organising activities and events that increase community interaction and social cohesion in target areas.
  • Promoting and extending the program offer of the Ozanam learning Centre into target communities and with partner organisations.
  • Managing necessary logistics and project management, including data collection and evaluating impact.

​​​​​​​This is a dynamic role that will require a high degree of flexibility and agility, strong time management organisational skills, a 'can-do' approach, and a passion for seeing people and community’s flourish.

You Will Need

  • Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in community development, social work, community services and / or educational program or other relevant area.
  • Demonstrated understanding of community development and asset-based community development.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in community development, social work, community services and / or educational program or other relevant area.
  • Demonstrated understanding of community development and asset-based community development.
  • Demonstrated experience working with those who experience social exclusion due to homelessness, the impact of trauma, mental health issues, alcohol and other drug issues and / or unemployment.
