The Irish Support Agency (ISA), NSW is a not-for-profit organisation founded in 1995, whose mission is to provide front-line support to anyone in the Irish-Australian community who finds themselves in circumstances of vulnerability or distress. We endeavour to promote mental health & well-being and a sense of connection in our community.
We assist a diverse range of clients with complex issues including homelessness, financial difficulty, domestic violence, family breakdown, illness, injury, and mental health problems.
We also deliver a range of engaging programs for the wider Irish community including mental health and wellbeing support sessions, information workshops, social programs, and community events.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are recruiting a full-time Outreach Worker (37.5 hours, 12-month contract).
This role is key to maintaining and extending the beneficial impact of the Irish Support Agency's work and to the continued delivery of high-quality service to our clients in the broader Irish community in NSW.
The role is both interesting and varied, so we are searching for someone with a flexible, ‘can-do’ attitude.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- To provide high-level support to new and existing clients of the Irish Support Agency.
- Undertake person-centred comprehensive assessment and care planning in conjunction with persons seeking support.
- Ensure client assessment and the delivery of support are in line with policies, procedures, and funding requirements.
- Collaborate with other agencies to ensure effective holistic services for clients and prioritise support from local and statutory services.
- Advocate on behalf of our clients in dealing with government and non-government organisations.
- Attend interagency case meetings to ensure there is a coordinated approach amongst service providers regarding the case planning process.
- Visit clients in a diverse range of settings such as nursing homes, hospitals, detention centres, and prisons.
- Assist clients in understanding and navigating the array of aged care supports and services available.
- Contribute to and attend functions that are hosted by the Irish Support Agency.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- A sound understanding of Irish culture in a New South Wales and Australian context.
- A strong "can-do" attitude that shows flexibility, adaptability and commitment to a strong team environment with a proactive, solution-focused approach to issue management.
- Understanding of community, social, and health services and referral pathways
- Proficiency in a range of computing skills.
- High-level interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with a diverse range of people, organisations, and stakeholders.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
- A current NSW driver’s license with access to your own vehicle.
Remuneration will be based on qualifications and experience.
