Our vision is to see an end to viral hepatitis by 2030. Through our education programs, community collaboration and person-centred care initiatives, we’ve made a significant difference in the lives of people living with viral hepatitis and liver disease since 1995.

About the role

The Project Officer will support the development and delivery of projects and activities focused on reducing the impact of viral hepatitis in Queensland.

Working as part of a dynamic and innovative team, the role requires the ability to work within a changing environment and across a range of initiatives and tasks. A diverse skill set is required with strengths in project management, time management, problem solving, advanced written and communication skills and stakeholder engagement/relationship management.

You’ll work closely with the Hepatitis Queensland team to engage communities (including marginalised groups and First Nations peoples), reduce stigma, and promote better health outcomes for people affected by viral hepatitis and liver disease. One thing’s for sure – you will be making a meaningful difference every day! A typical day could include delivering education sessions to healthcare workers, providing hepatitis information over the phone to community members, and managing a network of people with lived-living experience of hepatitis B or hepatitis C to guide our work.

You’ll have the opportunity to support the CEO, Programs Manager and HQ team to design new projects and make improvements while maintaining the current operations.

Some inter/intra-state travel and after-hours work may be required from time to time.

This is a 12 month contract with possibility of extension.

About You

Primarily, this role is suited to someone who wants to make a genuine contribution to the community and support a like-minded team. We’re looking for someone who has:

• Degree qualifications in health, public health or community services with at least four years’ work experience, OR equivalent substantial work experience in the area.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate education sessions.
• Excellent community engagement skills and/or community development experience.
• An understanding of person-centred care and lived-living experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders including consumers, health professionals, and social services professionals.
• Highly developed communication, analytical, problem solving and influencing skills with proven ability to build effective relationships across a broad range of stakeholders.
