Employment Term: Permanent Part-time (0.6FTE); Office Based (Bentleigh East); three days a week.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated executive with a strong background in strategic human resource management, to join our Executive team. Reporting to the CEO, you will be a trusted advisor, whilst driving transformational change. 

The core responsibility of this role is to shape and execute our long-term people strategy, while managing operational excellence across strategic workforce planning, employee relations, talent acquisition, succession planning, policy/process implementation, payroll, and people systems and metrics.

The General Manager People Experience will lead a small team, managing all cyclical employee lifecycle initiatives, to improve and enhance the organisation’s operational effectiveness, drive best practice outcomes, and support a thriving workforce.

The successful candidate will be an influential leader and excellent communicator, ready to make a meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities

People Strategy Development and Deployment 

  • Develop and operationalise the people strategy and roadmap, moving from current state to preferred state via improved systems, processes, and practices. These include:
  • Integration of payroll and employee personal data with other related systems and databases (one source of truth) to improve accuracy of people data and metrics, streamline processes and enhance the end user experience
  • Build a continuous cycle of innovation, integration, and improvement

People Performance 

  • Plan for and manage the annual performance review process, establishing a clear process forreviews and end of year conversations, including reporting and consolidation of results.
  • Utilise the Employment Hero data to build individual development and succession plans to develop capability where gaps exist
  • Recommend annual salary increases based on pay for performance (and considering market data intel and VECTEA legislated increases)
  • Support the talent acquisition process, by providing advice, expertise, and resources to ensure Glen Education attracts key talent and meets its internal SLA (e.g., time to recruit, turnover, performance) 

People Systems 

  • Act as the People lead in scoping, developing, and implementing the HR/Payroll solutions in Employment Hero
  • Define the business needs and work with stakeholders to develop workflow solutions
  • Establish agreed service level agreements and further develop and implement meaningful and accurate HR metrics and reporting
  • Assist with the development of Board papers and the Annual Report 

Industry and Compliance 

  • Ensure workplace policies and procedures are up to date, adhere to employment laws and guide the organisation on VECTEA award interpretation and other IR related matters
  • Head all dispute resolutions in relation to unions and other stakeholders relating to employment

About You

You will have:

  • Extensive executive leadership experience (five plus years), ideally within the NFP or government sectors
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, or a related field; postgraduate qualifications such as an MBA are desirable
  • Proven experience in leading the People function; achieving high performance in a constantly evolving environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage, influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
  • Robust knowledge of employment law and its application
  • Knowledge or experience with the Victorian Early Childhood Teachers and Educators Agreement 2020 (VECTEA)
  • Working knowledge of Payroll and HR information systems and their application. Familiarity with Employment Hero will be highly regarded
  • Experience preparing detailed and compelling reports for management and the Board
  • Current Police Check and Working with Children Check
