The FIA Foundation exists primarily to advance and develop the training and education of professional fundraisers. It provides access to professional fundraising resources, facilitates research, aids in the development of certification programs for fundraisers, and promotes the contributions of professional fundraisers to our community.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role will be motivated to drive income generation to create meaningful and impactful change for FIA Members and the sector widely, by being accountable for managing the strategy, execution, and resources to acquire, cultivate and nurture donors including major donors and bequestors. This is a greenfields role with opportunity to make incredible impact on the fundraising sector in Australia.

About you:

You possess exceptional people-oriented skills, demonstrating high levels of compassion and patience. Your ability to build rapport and trust with stakeholders and donors, combined with impeccable attention to detail, is crucial in cultivating and nurturing relationships for impactful change for FIA and the fundraising sector.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in strategising, managing and implementing the philanthropic program to achieve targeted outcomes
  • Grow philanthropic income by acquiring and retaining more Donors through new and ongoing initiatives
  • Engage new, nurturing and further developing existing, philanthropic relationships
  • Develop and implement Donor care journeys and strong channels of communication with donors, partners and other stakeholders
  • Implement a detailed plan including budgets for all philanthropic initiatives and promote, report and analyse outcome
  • Develop a robust and qualified pipeline of major donors and bequestors

You will need:

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in a supporter engagement role within the fundraising sector OR in a relationship-based sales/customer service role outside of fundraising
  • Expertise in Major Gifts and Bequest/Planned Giving Fundraising is highly regarded but not essential
  • Proven track record in achieving and exceeding income targets
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in project management
  • Experience using customer relationship management systems
  • Current knowledge of the philanthropic landscape in Australia is desirable
  • Police clearance
