The Prevention Division aims to reduce the risk of cancer in the Victorian population through social marketing, advocacy, professional education and providing advice based on the best available evidence. This involves action to affect individual behaviours and the broader physical and legislative environment to support health and wellbeing. Our programs include: SunSmart, Quit, Achievement Program, Screening, Early Detection and Immunisation (SEDI), and the Food for Health Alliance.
Saving lives and equitably improving cancer outcomes through screening, early detection and immunisation is a key goal for Cancer Council Victoria, with a focus on:
- Develop, deliver, and evaluate initiatives to equitably eliminate cervical cancer
- Advocate programs and initiatives that will address the growing burden of liver cancer
- Develop, deliver, and evaluate campaigns and programs to drive participation in bowel screening
- Advocate and deliver evidence-based initiatives that increase earlier detection of cancer
About your opportunity
We are seeking a Cancer Screening Project Lead to join the Prevention Division. Reporting to the Senior National Manager, Lung Screening Programs, your role is to:
- Provide strong project and contract management support to ensure initiatives are delivered on time and to a high quality, meeting all contractual obligations.
- Monitor project budgets and risks, ensuring compliance, and proactively addressing any issues that may affect project delivery.
- Provide secretariat support for key governance meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with government and other stakeholders, including strong collaboration with internal units to ensure effective program delivery, team cohesion, and alignment of activities.
- Deliver community and/or healthcare provider education and engagement activity, with an emphasis on reaching priority population groups.
- Prepare reports and presentations for funders and stakeholders to showcase progress, meet contractual obligations, and promote the impact of lung screening initiatives.
All about you
We are looking for someone with:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in public health, health promotion or a related field.
- Extensive experience in project management, implementation and evaluation in community development, health promotion or related fields.
- Contract management experience.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships as well as negotiate effectively with a wide range of individuals and organisations.
- High level organisational and time management skills, including the ability to effectively coordinate multiple partnerships and projects concurrently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information, simply and clearly to a range of audiences.
