Job Description

The Finance Support Officer at Baptist World Aid Australia plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of financial processes within the organisation. This position is designed for an individual who is detail-oriented and possesses strong analytical skills, with a passion for contributing to the BWA mission.

In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to the overall financial health of the organisation, including:

  • Assisting in Financial Reporting: Supporting the preparation and analysis of financial reports to provide insights into the organisation's performance.
  • Data Entry and Management: Accurately entering financial data into accounting software and maintaining up-to-date records.
  • Invoice Processing: Reviewing, processing, and following up on invoices from vendors and service providers to ensure timely payments.
  • Reconciliation: Assisting with bank reconciliations and ensuring discrepancies are swiftly resolved.
  • Payroll processing - processing BWA payroll fortnightly and other entities payroll
  • Budget Monitoring: Aiding in tracking budget expenditures against planned budgets to ensure compliance with financial policies.
  • Support Audits: Providing necessary documentation and assistance during internal and external audits.
  • Liaising with Team Members: Collaborating with other departments to streamline financial processes and enhance operational efficiency.

This position requires someone who can work effectively under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and demonstrate a commitment to the values of Baptist World Aid Australia. The Finance Support Officer will play an integral part in fostering a culture of accountability and transparency within the organisation’s finance operations.

Desired Skills and Experience

Who are we looking for?

You may be an Accounts Assistant looking for a change, a bookkeeper or an administrator who has had exposure to accounts.

Ideally, you will have

  • Minimum of 2- 3 years experience in accounts payable and Australian payroll, with a good knowledge of accounting principles and GL processes and financial controls.
  • Customer service orientated with a “can-do” attitude
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
  • Aligned with the vision, mission and values of Baptist World Aid

It would be an advantage if you had

  • Demonstrated ability in managing NetSuite or similar financial/ERP system
  • Demonstrated experience in making international payments
  • Not-for-profit salary packaging experience
