The Organisation

Inspired by the parable of the Good Samaritan, Opportunity International Australia exists to respond with compassion, dignity and action - empowering families living in poverty to create lives marked not by charity, but by choice.

Through innovative programs and microfinance initiatives, Opportunity equips people - primarily women - with small loans to start businesses, earn incomes and lift themselves and their communities out of poverty. Beyond this, the organisation supports access to healthcare, quality education and safeguards against gender-based violence, building stronger communities for generations to come.
We’re inspired by the compassion and action of the Good Samaritan. He saw a need and responded—not with hesitation, but with practical help, dignity, and hope. That’s exactly the spirit we bring to our mission to end poverty—one family, one community at a time.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Manager for Growth and Development to help us unlock new streams of generosity and impact.

Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, this strategic and outward-facing role will focus on growing Opportunity International’s Trusts & Foundations program, cultivating HNWI, corporates, and impact investors, and stewarding a small but highly engaged major donor portfolio.

This is a role where strategy meets purpose. You’ll be both architect and relationship-builder—designing fundraising pipelines, writing compelling proposals, and cultivating long-term partnerships that change lives.

This is a chance to help shape innovative funding pathways—from traditional philanthropy to bold, scalable investment in communities across Asia Pacific and beyond.

About You

  • You are a strategic, proactive fundraiser with a heart for impact and the economic empowerment for women and families globally
  • You have proven success in securing funding from Trusts & Foundations and Major Donors or Corporates
  • You bring an entrepreneurial mindset – you spot opportunities and act
  • You are a strategic thinker and relationship builder with strong communication skills, driven by outcomes – yet guided by empathy and humility
  • You're comfortable with both traditional fundraising and innovative investment opportunities
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and are happy to stand up in public and talk
  • You believe that dignity, not dependence, is the pathway forward
  • You have a personal alignment with Opportunity International’s Christian ethos and values

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute growth strategies for Trusts and Foundations fundraising
  • Identify, research, and secure new partnerships with trusts, HNWIs, corporates, and impact investors
  • Steward a portfolio of major donors with care, integrity, and creativity
  • Work cross-functionally to develop compelling grant proposals, reports and acquittals
  • Contribute to the development of strategic capital raising for impact investment initiatives
  • Represent Opportunity at events, presentations and forums with professionalism and warmth

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a globally-connected, impact-focused organisation with a 50 year track record of delivering results
  • Know the tangible impact of your work – every day
  • Hybrid and flexible working and family-friendly culture
  • Opportunity to travel, including Insight Trips to see your impact first hand
  • Competitive salary with generous salary packaging
  • A role that speaks to both your heart and your ambition

Opportunity is the charity for those with an entrepreneurial head and heart - those who think and do differently.Join us and imagine the opportunity.
