There is a rare opportunity to join the leadership team at the ASU SA + NT Branch, with a newly created Industrial Lead position available.

The Industrial Lead will

  • Assist the Branch Secretary and Assistant Secretary with the strategic direction and daily operations of the union
  • Coordinate a team of Industrial Officers to advance and protect workplace rights and conditions, maintain industry standards and resolve individual and collective issues effectively
  • Represent ASU members and the union in high profile hearings, conferences and meetings
  • Work closely with the ASU’s legal representatives and national officials on complex industrial and legal matters
  • Ensure ASU members, delegates and staff are provided with high level industrial advice and training
  • Ensure the work of the Industrial team aligns with the union’s broader industry, campaign and growth plans
  • Participate in the union’s broader political and social justice agenda

We are looking for an applicant who can demonstrate:

  • Substantial knowledge of the Australian industrial scene and the ability to use legislation, Awards and Agreements to enforce members’ rights and entitlements
  • Experience running matters in the Fair Work Commission, South Australian Employment Tribunal, Courts, the Human Rights Commission and other tribunals
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills
  • Managerial experience, and the ability to provide guidance, coordination and technical direction to the Industrial team

Ideally, applicants will hold tertiary qualifications in Law, Industrial Relations, Human Resources or similar, and have prior experience as an Industrial Officer or similar advocacy work.

This position is a permanent, full time position based in Adelaide. Some travel within South Australia and the Northern Territory (and the occasional travel interstate for national meetings) is required.

The current salary range is $104,296 - $116,510 depending on skills and experience.
