As our union grows, we are looking for a talented Digital Communications Officer to join our team and help tell the ASU story.

About the Role

As our Digital Communications Officer, you'll play a key role in shaping how we communicate with members, potential members, and the broader community. Working closely with ASU teams, you'll produce exciting, engaging, and values-driven content across a range of platforms.

You'll help ensure that our campaigns, services, and recruitment efforts reach and resonate with the people who matter most.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create compelling communication content that reflects the values and priorities of the ASU.
  • Assist with the creation and management of social media content to grow our presence and engagement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to promote the full range of ASU activities, campaigns, and member benefits.
  • Generate content for recruitment, campaign support, and member engagement across print and digital channels.
  • Support website updates and maintain content across digital platforms.
  • Assist with email marketing campaigns and digital outreach.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Demonstrated experience creating and managing content for social media.
  • Experience with website maintenance and email marketing tools.
  • Strong writing, editing and visual communication skills.
  • A demonstrated commitment to trade unionism and the values of the ASU.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

BONUS SKILLS (not essential but great to have)

  • Experience in video editing and multimedia content creation.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite - especially tools like Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools for measuring communication impact.
  • Previous experience working in a union, advocacy, or non-profit environment.

CONDITIONS

  • Full time, 35 hours per week.
  • Commencing salary $94,209 pa plus 12% superannuation.
  • Redfern based – close to public transport.
  • 17.5% annual leave loading.
  • 12 RDOs per year.
  • 4 weeks annual leave plus Christmas shutdown.
  • 6 months paid parental leave.
