About the Role:

Allambee is recruiting for a Counsellor to work in our clinical team providing specialist therapeutic intervention for adults, children and young people who have been impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence.

The role is based at Allambee's Peel Health Hub office and/or outreach location. You will be part of an enthusiastic, dynamic, and supportive team that is committed making a real difference to the lives of individuals, children, young people, and families impacted by interpersonal violence.

The role is part-time (3 days, 0.6 FTE).

Key Responsibilities:

Dependent on role / program:

  • Provision of evidence-based therapeutic assessment and interventions for children, young people and/or adults
  • Provision of community-based training for professionals in relation to family, domestic and sexual violence.
  • Provision of crisis and brief intervention for clients with a recent trauma experience
  • Provision of triage screening assessments for new referrals and active waitlist management support for clients
  • Design and delivery of evidence-based group counselling interventions and psychoeducational programs
  • Interagency consultation and collaborative case management
  • Active engagement in reflective practice, clinical supervision and professional development.

About You:

Allambee is looking for a passionate, motivated individual who either has experience in working with trauma or who has experience in counselling and is looking to make a move into this specialised area.

Successful candidates will bring the following:

  • A tertiary qualification (either Bachelor or Masters) in Psychology, Social Work, or Counselling or related discipline with knowledge and experience relevant to the role and eligibility for membership in the relevant professional association.
  • 12 months or more experience in in providing counselling interventions to children, adolescents and/or adults. Consideration would be given for candidates who have relevant sector/industry experience outside of counselling.
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of trauma informed care and practice
  • An understanding of family and domestic violence, sexual assault/abuse and the impacts of trauma consistent with best practice theoretical frameworks
  • Sound knowledge and experience of best practice therapeutic interventions with children, adolescents, and adults who have experience violence, abuse and/or trauma
  • Understanding and appreciation of issues for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people from CALD backgrounds
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently.

The successful candidate must have current National Police Clearance valid within one year, a WA Working with Children Check (or equivalent), and a current WA Driver’s Licence (or equivalent).
